Modern experimental methods such as high content screening allow the microscopic analysis of cells and other objects in high throughput. This image data exposes several challenges to analysts, such as pre- and post processing, object recognition and their quantitative analysis. In addition the large amounts of image data, which is generated with modern high throughput methods, can hardly be handled manually.

This seminar gives you an introduction to MATLAB® for data analysis and image processing in biotechnology and pharmaceutical applications.
After a broad introduction to the MATLAB environment, where you will see how to use data analysis capabilities as well as how to work with scripts and functions, we will lead you through a more advanced example for image processing. You will see how to read in data and images, recognize and quantify objects and how to aggregate analysis steps into complete applications.
